WORLDLY AFFAIRS ARE SHORT AS A SPRING DREAM
Tune: West River Moon

Worldly affairs are short as a spring dream;
Human sentiment is as thin as autumn clouds.
There is no need to compare and allow hardships to
belabor the mind;
All things have their destinies.

Luckily, I have three cups of good wine
And have met a new blossom.
Joyful and laughing for a time when we come together;
Whether tomorrow is bright or cloudy is uncertain.

POEM ON THE WALL OF QIUXIANG PAVILION
IN QIANTANGJIANG
Tune: West River Moon

Wine torches the body like fire, while lust slices the
body like a mountain of steel; excessive wealth
evokes jealousy and severs personal relations,
while anger explodes without fire.

The four come together as one, lacking much
difference; I urge you to take the high road by
refraining from clinging. Such would be the right
way to a well-cultivated form.
