1/22: THE PATH OF LIFE

Lao She (1899 - 1966)
English translation: Miao Guang

Talent is like a knife that has work cut out for the whetstone. No matter how sharp the blade, it will eventually rust without constant sharpening.

Humbleness makes the mind smaller. Just like a pebble stone which, though small, is tough. Only toughness makes one genuine.

Arrogance and complacency is a horrible trap. What’s worse, this trap was dug with our own hands.

Life is a movement that happens in light and shadow, across directions of left and right, and under sunshine and rain. The fun lies in that within these ever─changing twists and turns, the gradually dimming path will then brighten up again; the dimness makes life interesting, while the light brightens everything up.

The force of a conflagration
is kindled by a spark;
the water that destroys mountains
originates with a tiny drop.
